HOW TO PAINT A PIANO: DIY tutorial includes distressing with Annie Sloan wax

Painting a piano may seem intimidating, but it is entirely possible...and this video tutorial will walk you through it, step-by-step. We start with an old piano. There's nothing wrong with it, other than some minor scratches and a little wear-n-tear at the bottom. However, the owner - a piano teacher - sees this giant piece of furniture every day right smack in the middle of her living room, and it clashes with her fun sense of style. She decided it was time for an update, and that's when she brought it to me. In this tutorial you see how I took it apart (down to the keys) in order to sand it and prepare it for painting. You see how bead board and wood trim was added to the bottom, giving it a boost of personality. And then you see how it is primed, painted and even distressed using Annie Sloan wax. It all comes together beautifully in the end, with new glass knobs added for good measure. Now it's a beautiful piano, (its sound quality is not at all affected) and most importantly, its owner loves it! Should you decide to take on this project, just give yourself plenty of time. This is NOT a weekend project. You'll need about a week to do it right. But if you're patient, and don't cut corners, the end result will be professional and long-lasting.
