Anticipation builds as Baldwin County awaits new aquatic center opening | What you need to know

The warm weather in Central Georgia might feel like the perfect day for a water park, but Baldwin County residents will have to wait a bit longer. County officials say construction is nearly complete on their new aquatic center.

The sounds of construction and pickleball fill the air at Walter B. Williams Park, where crews are building a water park for families to enjoy.

"It's good for the community, everybody come out and have fun," said Darius Peak, who brought his 2-year-old and 1-year-old to the park.

Peak, who lives in Sparta, says his family frequents Baldwin County for the playground, but a water park could be a game-changer.

"How great would it be to take them to the splash pad to help to get some of their energy out? I will come every day if I have to," Peak said.
