Firefly has Secret of Light #science #fireflies #Light

Fireflies produce light through a process called bioluminescence. This happens when a substance called luciferin reacts with oxygen inside the insect's light-producing organ. An enzyme called luciferase helps speed up the reaction. When this reaction occurs, it releases energy in the form of light, not heat. That is why it is often called cool light. The light is very efficient, with nearly 100 percent of the energy turned into visible light. Fireflies can control this reaction by adjusting the amount of oxygen they let into their light organ. This helps them flash in patterns to communicate, attract mates, or warn predators. Scientists are studying this natural light system to develop new technologies, such as more efficient LED lights or medical imaging tools.
