Questions over implementation of the NHI: Dr Angelique Coetzee weighs in

Doctors have been crying out about a shortage of staff and other factors putting strain on the health sector. And many are asking if the NHI is implementable. The Solidarity Doctors Network says there is no trust in the government to make the National Health Insurance work. The government proposed a National Health Insurance in 2011 to ensure rich and poor would have access to quality healthcare. Phase one was completed. But Phase 2 that was originally scheduled for 2017 to 2022 has not happened yet.
