A state of being where people never or seldom feel special, focus on others, at the expense of their own needs, and may even feel depressed or anxious, according to Dr. Craig Malkin, narcissistic personality expert and a lecturer at Harvard Medical School. A term whose name is derived from the nymph, Echo, from the Greek myths; the lover of Narcissus, cursed to repeat the last words she hears.
