Count Malcolm Sinclair was an intelligence officer of Scottish descent in the Swedish army. In 1739 while returning from Constantinople to Sweden, having delivered instructions to consuls there to foster an alliance against Russia, he was intercepted on the road in Silesia by agents of the Russian ambassador to Stockholm. He was taken off the road into the forest somewhere north of Breslau and ultimately killed. This song is more relevant to the next Russo-Swedish War than the Great Northern War.
