Kitchener Stitch for Both Knit and Purl Stitches

In this video I will be showing you how to do the kitchener stitch, a type of grafting stitch used in knitting, to seamlessly connect live knit stitches to knit stitches and live purl stitches to purl stitches.

There are 5 different techniques in the making of the kitchener stitch:

1. The Setup (time stamp: 1:00)
2. Grafting Knit Stitches (time stamp: 1:30)
3. Setting up for Purl Stitches (time stamp: 3:00)
4. Grafting Purl Stitches (time stamp: 4:00)
5. Setting up for Knit Stitches (time stamp: 4:38)

Here are the written instructions for each:

1. Setup:
Front Needle: insert tapestry needle purlwise
Back Needle: insert knitwise

2. Grafting Knit Stitches:
Front Needle: Insert tapestry needle knitwise, pull stitch off needle, go into next stitch purlwise.
Back Needle: Insert purlwise, pull stitch off needle, go into next stitch knitwise.

3. Setting Up for Purl Stitches:
Front Needle: Insert tapestry needle into stitch knitwise, pull stitch off needle, go into next stitch purlwise.
Back Needle: Insert into stitch knitwise, pull stitch off needle, go into next stitch purlwise.

4. Grafting Purl Stitches:
Front Needle: Insert tapestry needle into stitch knitwise, pull stitch off needle, go into next stitch purlwise.
Back Needle: Insert into stitch knitwise, pull stitch off needle, go into next stitch purlwise.

5. Setting Up for Knit Stitches:
Front Needle: Insert tapestry needle into stitch knitwise, pull stitch off needle, go into next stitch purlwise.
Back Needle: Insert into stitch purlwise, pull stitch off needle, go into next stitch knitwise.
