LTWOO eRX Front Derailleur Not Working, and Other Smaller Issues
The front derailleur on my LTWOO eRX groupset has stopped working after I unplugged the wires and plugged them back in. The FD worked up until just before I disconnected it, but did not work after reconnecting.
I have tried the following without success:
- ensuring battery charge
(LTWOO app reports 98% charge, but FD still does not work)
- switching shifter left/right
(both shifters shift the RD successfully, but not FD)
- shifting from the LTWOO app
(RD shifts; FD does not shift)
- switching cables
(RD shifts when connected to either RD or FD cable)
(FD does not shift when connected to either RD or FD cable)
- deactivating protection mode by using "calibration button" in LTWOO app
(no effect)
The RD light flashes green when initiating a FD shift, but the FD does not shift. This is similar to TraceVelo's video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32UDzOrqK2I) in which his FD stopped working after disconnecting and reconnecting it. He determined that his RD was responsible for failing to signal to the FD that it should shift. He replaced his RD with one from a new eRX groupset, and his FD began working again.
Also, unrelated and not described in this video: the RD's magnetic charging port no longer charges the battery. The LTWOO app displays the charging icon and indicates that the battery is charging when the magnetic charging cable is attached, but the battery does not charge (in fact, it drops 1% overnight). I believe replacing the RD will fix this. My USB-to-magnetic-port charger has never been exposed to water, but the charging issue began after riding in the rain.
I am able to charge my battery manually by removing my two 14500 cells from the seat post cell holder, then charging them directly to 4.2 volts each in my own charger. The FD stopped working after I completed this process for the first time.
Another 100% unrelated problem I noticed on the end of my rainy bike tour is that, sometimes, one press of the right-shifter downshift button would cause my RD to shift many times rapidly, all the way down to the lowest gear. I don't know if this is a mechanical problem with the button, or if it was due to water ingress.
