Victoria Falls - Railway Crossroads of Southern Africa

Recently I was going through some old video footage, and came across a recording made on 12th and 13th August 1988 at Victoria Falls. I was staying in the Victoria Falls Hotel, immediately adjacent to the station. At 7am the unmistakable sound of the whistle from a steam engine ringed through the air. Rushing to the platform I witnessed the amazing site of a Class 15 Beyer-Garratt locomotive that had recently arrived with the overnight 'express' from Bulawayo. Needless to say, every available minute of he succeeding two days was spent recording movements in the proximity of the station, during which time I recorded 'O' Class locomotives from Zambia, Class 15 and 20 locos from Zimbabwe, and in the consist of one goods trains, two class 33 locos from South Africa, beign shipped north to Zambia. Filming them gave me great pleasure and I am delighted to be able to share these moments with you. I hope you enjoy these never to be repeated moments as much as I did.
