Interleukin-6 (IL- 6) test and its significance
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is an important cytokine that may be elevated in inflammatory conditions so that it's levels in the plasma act as biomarker for severity of any infection and inflammation. This cytokine along with other mediators like IL-1 and TNF alfa can stimulate inflammatory cascade as a part of immune response.
