French Bulldogs enjoy a day at the beach in this acrylic painting "Beach Days"

This acrylic painting was done on wood panel. I occasionally take on pet portraits and it's seems that for the majority of the times I do, they turn out to be French bulldogs. In this case, two french bulldogs. I've never had one as a pet, but have always loved this breed. I always get a kick out of their giant smiles and bat like ears. When I grew up, I had planned on becoming a veterinarian and had set my courses in school and in life to achieve this profession. Volunteering at animal hospitals and working at kennels, I was able to be around an assortment of pets and would always love meeting a new little Frenchie here and there. Well obviously I didn’t end up as a veterinarian as my interests switched to drawing and painting animals once I reached college age, but I am always grateful to have the memories of working with animals in my youth and happy that those obsessions haven’t escaped me:) The elements in this piece “Beach Days” were important the the dogs Oliver and Lux and I hope I did them justice.
