2020-6-7 Sundays With Sully - The one about FLIR M300

This week on Sundays With Sully we should have been out on the water getting much better footage of the new FLIR 300 series of camera, but travel plans are all kinds of up in the air these days. So check out some footage from this past winter in Miami.

Hey, everybody. It's time for another episode of Sundays with Sully. And unfortunately, due to COVID, due to traveling restrictions and everything else, I was supposed to be down in Florida showcasing the new FLIR M300 series cameras that by now we're going to be able to get down there, get this installed, and be able to show you guys on the water what FLIR is bringing to the table with this new M300 series camera. Alas, that's not the case. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks. But I want to kind of show you guys what it is, because now that Garmin with their latest software update, they have opened it up so that now not only can you do this on your Raymarine display like you see back here on a FLIR camera there, we can also do all of what I'm about to show you on to our Garmin 8600 series displays with version 19 software. So what exactly is the M300 series? Well, it's a there's four different models in it with the top two models having a dual payload camera in them. That means you have an incredibly good low light and daylight visible camera as well as the FLIR thermal camera. Now, they've allowed the ability to blend the two of those images together. So we'll just show you the video. Let's just make this easy. So when we go to the video here. So this is the normal view. You're used to seeing thermal camera on the left. This would be your normal camera on the right. So you can kind of see here, we've got you know, it's a it's a much smaller, more condensed picture on the left. But now we go into this, then we choose. We want the thermal load of this camera, and we're going to change our blending mode. We're going to take that from off and we're going to change it to CTV, which is color thermal vision. Now, as you can see, we've got our thermal vision, but we also have some daylight view ability on top of that. So now we've got a nice picture. This is daytime, but the nighttime, it's going to pick out the colors, whether it's a red buoy, green buoy or another boat, things like that. Now we can go to our MSX's view and from our MSX's view as we give us more of a black and white. And it's just going to outline everything as you can see here. So it gives us a really nice, easier to look at picture when we're talking about doing this. So this is a really great thing and this is the M364C, you see, we've got our pan, tilt zoom. They also have an M 364C-LR4. The LR is for long range. Check this out, guys. This is well over a mile away. We're on a boat. It's in the water. People are getting on and off. It's a gyro stabilized camera, and we're able to zoom in well over a mile to see what's on this balcony here. Now, yes, it's a little blurry. You get the idea that well over a mile away in fog, we're still able to see this as this zooms back out and really appreciate what exactly is going on right there. So it's pretty pretty cool stuff right there. So that's it. That's the new M 300 series cameras from FLIR. Now they have the ability to do the colored thermal overlay and really give you a much better situational awareness. I know you hear me say that all the time. I can't stress it enough to everybody out there. The more situational awareness that you have, the better informed boater you are, the safer you're going to be out on the water. And that's what we all want, right? We want to enjoy your time in the water and be safe. Check it out. Got some questions for us. You want to know more about maybe the flare camera, what it can be installed on, what it can and can't do. Drop us a line below in the comments or send us an email at sales@navtronics.com And as always, make sure to give us a follow on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook to keep up with all the latest marine tech trends. We've got a lot of stereo installs going on. We've got lights, we've got switching, we've got high end Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad installs going on. We're doing software updates. We really get into the swing of the season up here as people are starting to get out on their boats. We're going to have a lot more content for you guys to be checking out.
