Yargol dam is built across the River Markandeya in Yargol Village. The River flows across Karnataka - Tamilnadu Borders.

In 2006, the then Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy laid the foundation stone for the Yargol dam - Aiming to supply drinking water to Bangarpet, Malur and Kolar towns and 45 villages.
Even though the foundation stone was laid in 2006, The actual construction began in 2013.

In 2022 August, The water got filled in the reservoir and started overflowing. The historical moment.
