#107/ A Dozen Verve pt 2..... A look at the Creed Taylor legacy and his years at Verve!

No label makes a greater 180 than Verve in mid 62.... From old brothas in hats and near retirement, ( nOT SOMETHING JAZZ PLAYERS ACTUALLY EVA DO) TO a wave of signings bringing in younger fresh faces, and a whole new sound.
Gone were the legends on the swing n be bop era, n in their place was Latin jazz, Brazilian jazz, and half of the talent that the small labels had accrued over the previous decade.
In one fell swoop Verve became JAZZ!
The small labels were crippled, and Impulse was drifting into a sonic waste land... NO one save maybe Columbia sold jazz in the 60's like VERVE!
It is a very mixed bag.... but always accessible!!
