US state dinner reflected America’s ‘affection’ for Australia
The US state dinner for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reflected the “affection” Americans have for Australia, according to former foreign minister Alexander Downer.
His remarks come as the Prime Minister is on a state visit to Washington.
“The relationship with the United States is fundamental to our security and the power balance in the Indo-Pacific region,” Mr Downer told Sky News contributor Steve Price.
“All of our prime ministers over many years have done a good job in maintaining that relationship.
“It’s pleasing that Anthony Albanese understands the importance of that relationship.”
