Two recent movies, Toofan and Netflix's Mimi have created controversy among people, some claiming that it promotes religious targeting of women.

Toofan and the Mimi trailer, apart from being great Bollywood Cringe, reinforce the common stereotypes about Hindus in Modi's India: that they are intolerant of people from other communities. These movies also try to say that religious targeting of women is a Hindu conspiracy theory.

We explore why this Bollywood stereotype about Hindus is false, and why Bollywood movies like Toofan and Mimi will never show the real reason why people are upset.
