SMC’s Tullahan River cleanup progress update

Every year, Filipinos are affected by flooding, forcing many to evacuate their homes. This critical issue gives our work at the Tullahan River System an increased sense of urgency and importance. Since we began dredging the river last June 2020, we’ve removed over 300,000 metric tons (MT) of silt and solid waste from the river. We have also doubled our daily output to over 1,500 MT. Beyond preventing floods, we also aim to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in Manila Bay, which threatens marine life and traditional fishing grounds. Here’s how far we’ve come in our P1-billion initiative.
