ABOUT THE SERIES:
Psychiatric hospitals: they’re highly stigmatized. Encina Severa, who has dissociative identity disorder (DID) and is living with multiple personalities, is back to break that stigma and share what it’s like to admit yourself to a psychiatric hospital. It takes courage to admit that you have a problem and need help. Encina has that courage and did just that. She first explains why she admitted herself to a psych hospital in the first place. She describes the life events leading up to it, and how she felt going into the psychiatric hospital. She then dives into daily life in the hospital: the activities she and her fellow patients participated in, the doctors she interacted with, and the effects that daily life had on her. Encina ends the series with life after a psychiatric hospital stay. She explains that your mental health journey is not over once you leave a psych hospital, what she learned from her psych hospital experience, what the transition to outpatient treatment was like, and how she is maintaining her mental health today. She even shares advice on how to “keep going” when you don’t think you can. This is the story of Encina Severa’s journey - and it’s a story you don’t want to miss.
