The Czar Peter House (Czaar Peterhuisje) - Peter the Great Visist the Netherlands

One of the highlights of my trip to the Netherlands over the summer was my visit to the Czar Peter House (Czaar Peterhuisje), where Peter the Great stayed for a week in Zaandam during his Grand Embassy to Western Europe. Peter the Great spent a week living in a two room cabin with a Dutch carpenter who had worked for him in St. Petersburg. Although Peter was only there for a short time, the Dutch have preserved the house as a museum. If you visit the Netherlands (and you should), it is worth a trip to Zaandam to see the Czaar Peterhuisje!

Een van de highlights van mijn reis naar Nederland van afgelopen zomer was mijn bezoek aan het Czaar Peterhuisje, waar tsaar Peter de Grote voor een week verbleef tijdens zijn Grote Ambassade. Peter de Grote verbleef een week in een huisje met twee kamers, bij een Nederlandse timmerman die voor hem werkte in St. Petersburg. Ook al verbleef Peter hier maar korte tijd, het huisje is nog steeds te bezichtigen als museum. Als je Nederland bezoekt, is het het waard om een trip te maken naar Zaandam om het Czaar Peterhuisje te bezichtigen!
