For the Cake
1 box Pillsbury Classic White Cake Mix https://amzn.to/2R3QDjK
2 tablespoons Pillsbury Creamy Supreme Vanilla Frosting https://amzn.to/2FgG7n1
Food Coloring of your choice https://amzn.to/2R1wlYn
The Candy Coating
1 12-ounce bag of Wilton Turquoise Candy Melts Candy (If you need turquoise) https://amzn.to/3bybGnY
1 12-ounce bag of Pink Wilton Candy Melts (If you need pink) https://amzn.to/2R52cam
1 12-ounce bag of White Wilton Candy Melts https://amzn.to/2F9KaBB
3 teaspoons of flavorless oil (divided evenly into the 3 colors for the candy melts if you are using the three colors of candy melts, if not adjust accordingly)
Sprinkles https://amzn.to/3jPjk04
Extra Items Needed
Cake Pop Sticks https://amzn.to/2Zb7nKo
1 ½ Tablespoon Ice Cream Scoop https://amzn.to/2SHTXlN
Styrofoam https://amzn.to/2F9dMP8
or Cake Pop Stand https://amzn.to/3m8ZXRU
Prepare and bake the cake according to the package instructions and let it cool down to room temperature.
Cut out the edges and remove the cake from the baking dish and add to a large mixing bowl or divide cake in half and add evenly to two separate bowls. Remove any browning off top and bottom cake and crumble the cake with your hands. Add 1 tbsp of frosting to each half of crumbled cake and mix with a spoon or your hands. Add food coloring until you get the desired color.
Scoop cake with ice cream scoop and press cake into hand and then roll the cake ball with the palm of your hands to smooth any imperfections. Place formed balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
In a heat safe bowl, melt about 1/4 cup of white candy melts in a microwave until smooth. Heat in 30 second intervals to avoid overheating the candy (you can also do this with a double boiler as I have in the video)
Dip the tip of each cake pop stick into the melted candy and poke it into to ball about halfway through. Place each cake pop onto a baking sheet and transfer to the freezer for about 20 minutes, no longer!
Meanwhile, melt the candy melts in separate bowls depending if you want pink, blue and white coating on the cake pops. Make sure you melt them in 30 second intervals in the microwave with mixing in between until smooth (again you can use the double boiler method if you don’t own a microwave). Add the flavorless oil to the melts and mix well.
Once the cake pops have been in the freezer for 20 min, dip each into the cup and tilt to the sides slowly to make sure the entire cake pop is covered. Then slowly pull up the cake pop, do not swirl (they will come off), hold the cake pop in one hand and tap your wrist so that all the extra melted candy drips off.
Sprinkle the cake pop right away so that the sprinkles stick to it before the candy hardens and place the stick part inside the styrofoam or cake pop stand and allow the candy to harden. Make sure to decorate them however you like! Enjoy!
