How To Add Typewriter Effect to Text Layers in Adobe After Effects CC 2024.

This quick tip shows how to add the Typewriter Effect to animate text on and off in Adobe After Effects CC 2024.

Font Used in Tutorial:
Nitti Typewriter (on Adobe Fonts)
How To Add Typewriter Effect (Write On:
1. Add Text (using Type Tool)
2. Drag CTI (Playhead) to the beginning of the Timeline
3. Select Text Layer
4. Go to Effects Panel
5. Search for ‘Typewriter’
6. Select Typewriter Effect and drag on to Text Layer
7. Tap Spacebar to Preview Animation

How To Adjust Speed of Typewriter Animation:
1. Tap UU to Reveal All Keyframes
2. Move keyframes closer together to speed up animation
3. Move keyframes further apart to slow down animation

How To Reverse Typewriter Effect (Write Off):
1. Tap UU to Reveal All Keyframes
2. Select both keyframes
3. Copy to Clipboard (Cmd/Ctrl + C)
4. Move CTI forward in time
5. Paste Keyframes (Cmd/Ctrl + V)
6. Right-click on selected keyframes just pasted
7. Select ‘Keyframe Assistant’
8. Click on ‘Time Reverse Keyframes’
9. Tap Spacebar to Preview Animation
