Visiting The Tallest Monkey God Statue | 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S | 2 Wheel Explorer
In this video we headed to Garden Koopi Cafe at Lenggeng for breakfast, but food was sold out and it was only 10am. Decided to head over to the next destination in the plan which was the Jelatok Retreat despite the cafe listed to open at noon.
Ride there was nice as Google Maps took me through the old village roads and we passed by a few rubber plantation which is becoming rarer in this day and age. The ride to the retreat goes through some gravel road and a hill climb which is not an issue for the KTM.
The area is nice and peaceful and to our surprise the cafe is open so we headed there for breakfast. Their scone and coffee was delicious. Sat there enjoying the nature while having breakfast and deciding on the next destination as it was too early to head home yet.
Came across the Sak Dato Temple which has the tallest Monkey God statue and as it is only 20km away. It is a 140-year-old temple built by Chinese settlers during the 19th century as a place of worship for Taoists and Buddhists in the area (https://thesmartlocal.my/sak-dato-temple/). The temple is located on a hill and some hiking is required.
One will need to cross the suspension bridge which is always a joy for me and some steep hiking to get to the statue. It is a jaw dropping 1.5m tall statue but sadly there are no access to enter the Monkey God to have a glimpse on what he is watching over. this is one of those times where I wish I have a drone. There are also smaller statues of the monk and his white dragon horse, the pig and the orge.
