2017.9.3 ICSCC Mission Raceway Novice Race (Highlights)

This was my second novice race following my first one on the previous day (Saturday) in CACC.

In CACC, successful completion of 3 novice races are required before being eligible for a senior license.

These novice races are a simulated race, where different flags and situations are thrown at each driver to test not only their driving skills but more importantly their knowledge of the flags and regulations.

In these novice races, there are no classification of cars and various entrants from different classes all run together.
There are also no points awarded for positions finished as the main goal is the complete the race with no incidents.

On this day, I was "given" the pole position at the discretion of the novice director, despite having only the second fastest time in qualifying behind a FC3S RX7.

This turned out to be a really good battle for the majority of the 16-lap race so I decided to put the video up.
The vehicle I am driving is a borrowed 1993 EG Civic with a D16 SOHC non-VTEC motor.
The only major change comes in the form of a MFactory close ratio gear box.
Suspension was stock DC2 Type R and I think it's safe to say the most body roll I've experienced in my life on the track...
I can't thank Patrick from MFactory enough for generously lending me his car and for all the countless hours of work he put into the car to meet the regulations for entry.

Now I have one more novice race to complete before I am eligible to be upgraded to a senior license, with which I hope to race a different car in 2018.
Hope you enjoy the video!
Special thanks to:
