How to turn your passion into a business. | Murthaza Junaid | TEDxNUV
Most of us think about making a living out of doing the things we love but don’t have the
motivation or don’t know how to get going. Murthaza shares his story on how he turned his
passion of riding motorbikes into a business. Perhaps one of Bengaluru’s most recognisable names when it comes to the Royal Enfield, Murthaza started off as a part-time mechanic when he was barely 14. Today his workshop Art of Motorcyles is the adda where bike worshippers gather. Between 2004 and 2014 he has won about 50 trophies for RE races all over the country; he holds the record for the fastest uphill RE ride on Nandi Hills.
He is credited with turning the slow “bud bud” bike -- into a racing motorcycle. “Converting the RE into a dirt bike is my forte. As a young motorhead I used cut off the RE’s mud guards to make it lighter and sleeker. There were many who used to ask me why I’m turning such a ‘majestic gaadi (vehicle) ’ into a ‘circus ki gaadi’ ...” he laughs as he looks back at over 10 years of racing. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
