This Dying Soul - Dream Theater - Drum Cover (12 Step Suite)
Wassup guys! Many of you asked me to continue the Twelve-step Suite and here I am with the next chapter :)
Here's This Dying Soul from Dream Theater's Train of Thought album. The heaviest one from DT's history which combines prog and metal at a level never seen and heard before.
Funny to think now that I listened to this album many many times back in 2003/2004 and it was the best method to charge myself before many exams during my university days ahah!
Train of Thought was permanent in my car and the 40km route from my place to the university was crazy, with me playing along to it on the steering wheel (hey, I was driving safely, don't get me wrong ^_^) super happy and excited, trying not to get nervous for the exams.
At the end, I got my bachelor and this album played a very important role in the making ahah!
As I said, this is part of DT's Twelve-step Suite (a set of 5 songs which deal with MP's past experience of alcoholism) and the song features steps four and five (“Reflections of Reality (Revisited)” and “Release”).
It was challenging to play everything with the usual energy because I recorded this on last week and it was (and still is) suuuper hot outside and inside the studio here. But I survived and here's the final result, finally!
For this video I inaugurate my new Tama Silverstar Mirage acrylic set, I'm sure I'll have lots of fun with it :)
For the config, this time I didn't setup everything exactly as Mike Portnoy did while recording ToT in 2002 but it is very close to it. Unlike what MP did next, he recorded this song with the RIGHT side of his Siamese Monster kit only. Later, during the ToT tour he realized that it was better using the LEFT side of the kit because of the double bass parts and because it worked better when connecting this to songs like The Glass Prison...end of my NERD story part :) :) :)
Alright, that's all folks...enjoy, let me know what you guys think and, as always, thanks for the support!
