Not every baby will be born displaying the signs and symptoms of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). A pulse oximetry test is quick, painless and non-evasive and it could help indicate the presence of CHD. In this video you can see how a pulse oximetry test is carried out on a newborn baby.

At present, not all newborn babies receive a pulse oximetry test.
