Responsible Gun Handling

When it comes to firearms there is no doubt in my mind that understanding responsible gun handling is one of the most important concepts you can study.
People tend to look at gun safety, or responsible gun handling, as a topic for beginners. This is a mistake. the more time I have spent in the gun industry the more it has become clear to me that the true professionals involved in firearms and firearms training are experts in responsible gun handling.
I practice, teach my family, instruct my students and expect all those around me to follow three simple rules of responsible gun handling.
1. Keep your finger someplace other than the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
2. Keep your gun pointed in a relatively safe direction whenever possible.
3. Remember, you are in control of a deadly weapon. If you use it with malice or negligence you can hurt or kill yourself or someone else.
