2005 Tax Unfairness in Allegheny County*Wendy Bell WTAE

This piece looked at three year-old assessments in Allegheny County. The system was broken and filled with huge disparities and inequities. I was hired as an assessment consultant to Allegheny County when this piece aired on May 11, 2005. The county decided to freeze the base year assessments and cap assessments at different levels. It was ruled unconstitutional. The ruling spawned another court-ordered reassessment in 2012.
