WIND EROSION CASE STUDY PART 2: Phil Haby, Walker Flat, South Australia.

In the second video of this two part series, Chris McDonough visits Phil Haby in October to follow up on the progress of soil remediation activities. It's been an extremely windy and dry season, which has led to Phil having to resow the eroded area twice.

As part of the GRDC soil preservation project we have been interviewing farmers across the Mallee to hear their wind erosion stories and learn about the management practices that have worked to re-stabilise soils.

In this video Chris McDonough and Phil Haby discuss
👉 crop choice and sowing methods
👉 the use of chicken manure to build fertility
👉 machinery used for levelling sand hills

The production of this video has been made possible by the Murraylands and Riverland Grassroots Grant supported by the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board through funding from landholder levies, and to promote the work of the GRDC project MSF2010-002SAX "Practical tactics to improve ground cover and ensure soil preservation following successive low rainfall seasons".
