I really love learning new scales on the guitar.

Even if often they turn out to be old scales.

That is, scales that you have heard already - but you did not know you did.

So when I learned this scale for the first time, I was surprised... because it was THE sound I was after for a long, long time.

And finally, without warning, it was there in my hands. BOOM.

Talk about "inspirational" :-)

This scale - like many other scales - gets several names depending who you ask. I've heard it called Aeolian Dominant, Aeolian Major, Mixolydian b6, Melodic Major, 5th mode of Melodic Minor...

... but ultimately, I could not care less about its name.

The only thing I care about is how it sounds. And - to my ears at least - it sounds GOOD.

Maybe, like me, you were searching for this same sound and you did not know how to get it.
