The Toyota BZ4X left us underwhelmed in our initial review, but for 2026, Toyota has gone back to the drawing board. The result is a significantly updated model that addresses many of the original's shortcomings. Among the most noticeable updates is a subtle but effective redesign. Toyota has retained the distinctive hammerhead front fascia, but the tweaks give the car a more cohesive and refined look. It’s a welcome departure from the overly aggressive styling language of the past, with cleaner lines and thoughtful design elements—such as the blade-like cuts in the headlight housings that echo cues from the latest Prius and Camry. The lower grille is also more restrained, aligning better with the vehicle’s EV identity.

Beyond the styling, there are more substantial changes, including the name. The BZ4X is now simply the BZ, a move that signals a fresh start and a simplified branding approach that feels more fitting for the car’s updated direction.
