Caves and springs on the Mladejka" - trail to the beginning of the river
Among the lush forests of Strandzha gush many clear rivers, forming a unique water labyrinth. Their green streams are an endless source of adventure.

The beautiful and picturesque eco-trail slips gently around the Strandzha village of Mladejko, leading you imperceptibly to the springs of the eponymous river. The route starts in the western part of the village and dives among the lush greenery of the area.
Shortly after its start, the route makes a steep climb to take you to a special place - the Kiss rock formation. Its sculpted shapes speak eloquently enough how its name came about. And there's something else interesting near it. Nearby is a wooden castle, from whose high tower you can admire the wooded gorge of the Mladejka River.
Ahead, the eco-trail takes another impressive detour that reveals another part of its wild charm. It takes a left and crosses a deep and steep ravine, putting you on the south slope of the river canyon. The trail up to there is quite steep and challenging, which will cost you a bit more physical exertion. But the effort you will make is definitely worth it...
From the highest point of the hill, the unique beauty of this mountainous region is revealed. A large wooden tower has been built there, from which you can easily view the wooded landscape around. An ancient fortification also existed on this high spot, and its ramparts are still clearly visible along the plateau. In the centre of the moat is another curious place, a deep abyssal cave whose entrance is secured and locked.

The next part of the eco trail is considerably more relaxing and provides quite a number of other beautiful spots. To find them you need to backtrack to the diversion to the wooden tower. There, the trail descends, continuing into the deep gorge of the Youth River, taking you to its crystal clear springs. On the way to them you will cross several wooden bridges, which add to the pleasant forest atmosphere, and enhance its exceptional scenic beauty.

At the very end of the eco-trail you will reach several small karst caves, formed by the erosive processes of time. They are on the other side of the canyon, located just above the steep river bank. They are accessed by a narrow, sheltered path. Nearby, just below the rock cavities, one of the inexhaustible water riches of Strandzha Mountain - the river. Mladejka. Its clear waters spread smoothly along its bed, which after many kilometers leads them to the largest river in the region - Veleka.
