Fuel prices will increase

Last month (April), the government reportedly released K100 million from the K1 billion fuel subsidy package approved by the National Executive Council (NEC).

However, in a statement issued yesterday, Niugini Oil Company Limited (NOC) said that subsidy payments from the government to fuel importers had been delayed.

As a result, fuel prices will rise, effective from the start of business today, Friday, May 15, 2026.

The delay is expected to impact transport operators, businesses, and ordinary Papua New Guineans, who are already struggling with rising living costs.
