Happy Easter!

We’ve been walking through Holy Week in the Gospel of John. Palm Sunday; Hosanna, Lazarus walking beside Jesus. Good Friday with Amber, who told the Passion story as the candles went out. Last night ended in darkness with two words: “Sunday is coming.”

Today is Sunday.

Here’s what hit me this week. The disciples saw the empty tomb and believed; but they did not understand. They went home. Mary stayed. She was weeping. And Jesus said one word: her name. “Mary.” That’s how she knew. Not by sight. By voice. In the same way, Christ calls your name.

And then Thomas — he went from “I will never believe” to “My Lord and my God.” Jesus met him where he was at. And then Jesus looks at us across 2,000 years and says: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

You do not need all the answers. You need to believe. We are all a work in progress. And Mary’s response is our response: go and tell the world that Jesus lives.
