The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch is a legend, and this Gemini 4 40th Anniversary limited edition is a standout among wristwatch royalty. This model commemorates the first US Space Walk accomplished by NASA astronaut Ed White of Gemini IV in 1965. As a limited edition, this 2005 Omega Speedmaster was built in only 2,005 pieces. A special sunburst blue metallic dial includes upscale upgrades including an applied Omega logo and applique indices. The caseback is a red lacquer insert commemorating the date and the names of the NASA Gemini mission crewmen, White and James McDivitt.

Inside the 42mm stainless steel Speedmaster Professional case, an Omega caliber 1861 keeps the beat. This manual wind mechanical movement is the same kind flown by NASA missions since the mid-1990s (and since 1968 as the caliber 861). The power reserve of 48 hours beats away at 21,600 vibrations per hour, and a tough combination of lateral clutch and cam selector control the chronograph functions. This movement is Lemania-based and represents a modification of the Lemania 1873 ebauche.

Patek Philippe collectors will thrill to the inclusion of a rare 5078P-001 minute repeater. This 38mm platinum repetition minutes contains a finely tuned set of strikers and gongs that chime the current hour, quarters, and minutes on demand. An automatic Patek Philippe caliber R 27 PS provides motive force and a 43 to 48 hour power reserve. All components of the hand-finished caliber are detailed exhaustively. The platinum case features a diamond between the lugs at six o’clock that attests to its use of the noblest of metals, and the lugs are of the hand-welded variety. Patek Philippe equips this 5078P with a grand feu enamel dial built on a solid gold dial base. The enamel is applied in up to 20 layers and fired in a kiln at 800 degrees Celsius to cure each layer.
