Seiko 7019A Service Part 1 Disassembly
Here is my first attempt at filming for upload a movement strip, clean & service having been inspired by Mark Lovick of the Watch Repair Channel and his enviable 'manipulation under a camera lens' skills and Michael Bolton of My Retro Watches and his fascinating channel incredible setup, super detailed microscope closeups and neverending Seiko collection, (before even getting started on his others).
This watch was purchased at a flea market in Hamburg while on holiday there and should contain a 7S26 movement, it has a 7019A in there instead and while I could have swapped out the movement for a 7S26, those being popular and quite common and having a spare or two, I decided it wouldn't be the 'same' watch I purchased as a holiday keepsake and I had intended to service this anyway as I tend to factor in with any second hand watch I buy.
This first video was filmed on my mobile phone and surprisingly didn't look as bad as i'd anticipated once rendered, the rebuild was filmed on my regular camera after I'd had a chance to play with placement and settings and I now have an even greater respect for anyone working on a movement with a camera lens fighting for access and trying to not block said view along with keeping the movement in view.
I hope someone finds this useful and you enjoy.
While I can't imagine doing a lot for upload as it really does increase the time spent on them I hope to film a few of the less commonly seen movements for those interested.
Please accept my apologies for youtubes butchery of the first 4 minutes of footage which despite selecting 1080p looks like it's shot in 480, at the 4 minute point the quality improves and if this doesn't rectify in the next day or so I may have to re upload.
I don't know if this is due to shooting on my phone, (as a test run) in 4K so I could crop in for a 1080p view without having it too close or not but the original rendered video looks decent.
The rebuild is shot using my normal camera and should not look as bad.
