Typhoon Rai: Aerial video shows devastation in Philippines as death toll climbs to 12

Typhoon Rai devastated several parts of central and southern Philippines, killing at least 12 people and displacing hundreds of thousands, disaster officials said on Friday.

Footage shared by the Philippine Coast Guard showed parts of the popular holiday island of Siargao, one of the areas where Rai first made landfall as a Category 5 typhoon, inundated with floods and damaged structures.

Disaster officials on Friday were assessing the extent of damages caused by Rai.
