Beginner Fingerstyle Exercise 1 | Fingerstyle Guitar + TABS & Sheet Music

Welcome to the first exercise in this series.

We will begin in the most easy way possible for the absolute beginner with some simple open string arpeggios.

The exercise only focuses on the finger picking hand and using the thumb to pick the rhythm note and the first 2 fingers for the melody.

Note: In fingerstyle guitar all fingers are used for picking apart from the little finger and in later exercises, the 3rd finger will be used.

Tip* Try to copy along exactly with the video using the same fingers and in time with my playing. If it feels difficult at first, perhaps slow the speed of the vid and try it like that till it feels easier to do at normal tempo.

It's good to practice anything new slowly at first till it feels comfortable enough to play faster. Accuracy first then speed will follow.
