Reggae Artist Leroy Gibbons @ 09.00 shot and wounded

Police are investigating the circumstances under which Reggae Artist Leroy Gibbons was shot and wounded by gunmen on Port Henderson Road popularly called back road in Portmore St Catherine this morning.

Gibbons who underwent a surgery is recuperating in hospital.

Superintendent in charge of Operations for the St Catherine South Division Leighton Grey says the incident took place at about 7:15 am.

He explains that preliminary reports indicate that Gibbons was not the target, but a man with whom he was walking.

Superintendent Grey says an interview was conducted with the man suspected to be the target of the gunmen.

He says the police are conducting operations in the area.
In the meantime, close friend of Mr Gibbons, Entertainer Peter Metro says Gibbons was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

He explains that gibbons was walking with the man and discussing music.

He says after speaking with Gibbons, doctors took him to conduct a second operation.
