Forest Walk in Finland - Helvetinjärvi National Park

(4K) Summer Walk in the Helvetinjärvi National Park in the Pirkanmaa region. Helvetinjärvi is located in Ruovesi municipality about 50 km to north from Tampere.

The area includes deep gorges and rugged scenery formed by faults running through the bedrock. One of the most famous attraction is the cleft Helvetinkolu (the starting point of this walk) at the south-eastern end of Lake Helvetinjärvi.

Helvetinkolu has been a well-known tourist attraction already in the 1800s. Many famous Finnish artists and authors, such as painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela and poet J.L.Runeberg, have admired the scenery.
