American Federation for Aging Research: MacArthur Foundation 100&Change Proposal

Lead by the American Federation for Aging Research, AFAR, a consortium of scientists, universities, foundations, philanthropists, and public health organizations have come together to address this challenge, spawning a fundamentally new global public health movement. This exciting effort, called the Longevity Dividend Initiative (LDI), will extend healthy life and reduce health care costs by attacking the primary source of disease – aging itself. The LDI has already generated a groundswell of support in the scientific community, and $100 million from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation will unleash a huge wave of creativity, transforming science’s ability to enable billions of people to live longer and better.
