Edinburgh is Scotland's compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings.

The panoramic views from Calton Hill have astonished and inspired visitors for centuries. The Hill is also famous for its collection of historic monuments, one of the most striking is the National Monument, inspired by the Parthenon in Athens. It was never completed leaving just the twelve columns you see today.

Edinburgh Castle is definitely high on the listi of things to do in Scotland's capital city. It's hard to miss the castle as it sits up this hunk of volcanic rock!
