Comparing the Minolta Maxxum 50mm f/1.4 and f/1.7 - Sample Images

In this vlog we compare two affordable, well-built, quality 50mm lenses, the Minolta Maxxum f/1.4 and f/1.7. We mount them on identical Sony A77's so you can see a comparison between the two lenses on the exact same shots and set up.

There are additional sample images from both lenses at the end of the video.

If you're in the market for a good 50mm lens for the Sony A Mount system, you might want to have a look at both of these excellent choices.

The 50mm f/1.7 is priced around $50 USD used, truly a great bargain for a mighty fine lens. And the f/1.4 will set you back around $175-$200 USD. There's not much difference in the quality of the two lenses, they are both outstanding. You will see slightly sharper images from the f/1.4 and it is a little sharper in low light is well. But the difference is negligible.
