Silence Meets Science | Ava Goumas | TEDxSaintFrancisHS
Oftentimes we isolate artistic from academic interests to compartmentalize our lives. After witnessing her passions for neuroscience and dance blend into one unique experience, Ava Goumas shares how we can act on our intersectional curiosities. Ava Goumas is a junior at Saint Francis High School. Through her involvement in the National Charity League, she has developed a passion for serving her communities, including Saint Francis and the greater Bay Area. Ava is intrigued by all things neuroscience, coffee, and Harry Styles. She plans to pursue her interests in teaching and competing in dance in college, as well as majoring in neuroscience. In her talk about her experiences as an assistant dance instructor and Magical Bridge volunteer, Ava hopes to illustrate how understanding nonverbal communication makes us more empathetic and compassionate. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
