My 1949 Cadillac becomes a reality!
When I was about 5 years old, I saw a Classic Car come down this same street. I remembered the shine, the chrome, the fins and even the smell of the exhaust! As I got older I dreamed of the car that I soon realized was a Cadillac! I narrowed the years down between 1948-1952 and from that point knew what to look for. This is quite literally the "Car of my dreams!" In the dreams I'm either driving a car with a BIG steering wheel or there's a Cadillac parked or patrolling in the background! I can tell the sound of an older Cadillac in a parking lot and HAVE run looking for it only to stand mesmerized looking at it! Around late July I started getting the bug to look even harder online and my patience finally paid off!
In Washington, is where she was.. I contacted the owner and at first received no reply.. My neighbor said it was because I was in California and we're known to chop, lower, hot rod and butcher classics if not outright flip them.. I was almost panicked! This was the furthest from what I wanted!! I wrote a brief letter explaining and hoped. I got the word it was still available and started Praying! My Prayers were answered by Jerry (the previous owner) and my folks. We had many talks by phone and text and eventually came to a deal. The car was to be mine!! I set up plans to drive to Washington and check it out, but my wife's leg got hurt and I had to cancel.. I asked for more photos and a video and both were graciously sent. My Parents knew my dream and so called it my Birthday gift! My Birthday fell on the very day of the Eclipse! SOLD! Arrangements were made and she would be sent by enclosed Transport. This fell over the Labor Day. Wednesday the 6th of September was a bittersweet day as I waited for my dream car to cruise down the road (albeit in a transport) straight to where I had sat outside 44 years before.. This was also the Birthday of my pal, my sidekick, best pooch and our boy Buddy(Hoot) who passed away 5 months earlier. He is missed by all. The driver was a true gentleman named Moise! He was professional to the T! He and I touched bases on the phone and made sure we were in sync. This man had told Jerry that he was used to nice cars, but THIS was a whole new thing and was VERY impressed by it. Now I was REALLY excited! The video shows the events and the happy tone shared by all! There's a little to work on here and there, but all in all, a fantastic machine! Thank you Jerry, Moise, Mom and Dad, my Wife and my Sister who always got me Cadi things through the years, God, MaMa Mary and all who helped.. Known and unknown!
I would like to finish this by saying if you need a car Transported, e-mail Moise! You will NOT be let down! Let it be known that I normally do NOT do commercials for anybody, but this man was as professional as they come!
You may contact him at moise1@comcast.net. Thanks again to all!
