Paul wasn't just an apostle. He wasn't just a traveling preacher.
He was a pastor.
2 Corinthians 2:4 —
"For I wrote to you out of much affliction and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to cause you pain but to let you know the abundant love that I have for you."
Much affliction. Anguish of heart. Many tears.
This was a man who had been beaten, shipwrecked, stoned and left for dead — and none of that broke him the way his people's sin broke him.
2 Corinthians 11:28 —
"Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches."
Daily. Not occasionally. Not when it was convenient. Every single day the weight of his people was on him.
He didn't write that hard letter because he was angry. He wrote it because he loved them. He wept when he wrote it. He agonized over sending it.
That is what a pastor's heart looks like.
And it is what every believer's heart should look like toward the people God has placed around them.
