There’s a certain kind of kid who doesn’t just listen to School of Rock — he lives it. For TAZ, that moment came at eight years old, sitting cross-legged in front of a TV, wide-eyed as Jack Black’s guitar-heavy gospel of rock ’n’ roll blew the doors off his young imagination. Minutes later, he was begging for a guitar. Weeks later, he was tearing through riffs like a storm. The nickname “TAZ” stuck — short for Tasmanian Devil — a nod to the whirlwind energy that’s defined his playing ever since.

Fast forward a decade, and the New York native has gone from child prodigy to full-blown phenom. A Yale graduate with calloused fingers and a résumé that reads like a rock fantasy, TAZ is living proof that some people are simply born for the stage. Before he could even drive, he was starring in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock: The Musical on Broadway — shredding guitar solos to packed houses night after night.

But that was only the beginning.

By his twenties, TAZ had already shared stages with icons like Lady Gaga, Stevie Nicks, Jon Batiste, Slash, and multiple members of the Allman Brothers Band. He’s played Madison Square Garden, Red Rocks, and Coachella. He’s opened for The Rolling Stones at MetLife Stadium. He’s even got his own signature guitar from D’Angelico. And if you think that sounds like a lifetime of highlights — he’s just getting started.

“I’ve always felt like music chose me,” TAZ says. “It’s not about fame or anything like that. It’s about chasing that moment where everything clicks — where the crowd, the band, and the music are all one thing.”

It’s that hunger — that endless chase for connection — that makes watching TAZ perform feel almost spiritual. He doesn’t just play the guitar. He attacks it. Every riff is a lightning bolt. Every solo a sermon. His voice, smooth but sharp, slides effortlessly between soul and rock, carrying the weight of a musician twice his age.

That intensity hasn’t gone unnoticed. John Mayer once called him “the first young guitar player that is not a gimmick.” Coming from Mayer — one of the modern gods of guitar — that’s a coronation.

But behind the spotlight and the sold-out shows, there’s a scholar’s discipline. Between touring the world and performing on national TV (Ellen, The View, Colbert, Good Morning America), TAZ somehow found the time to graduate from Yale — a testament to the balance his family instilled early on. “They always told me, if you’re going to do something, do it all the way,” he says.

And that’s exactly what he’s doing. His first headlining show at New York’s Mercury Lounge sold out in minutes. His collaborations with Batiste have taken him from jazz festivals to late-night stages, teaching him the art of adaptation — the fine line between control and chaos.

Now, with his own music on the horizon and a world that’s finally catching up to his talent, TAZ is standing on the edge of something big. Something electric. Something inevitable.

Rock ’n’ roll’s next great hope isn’t a myth. He’s already here — and his name is TAZ.
