Eclectus Parrot Pair - Iron Range National Park

Female & Male Eclectus Parrot pair at the famous nest of Iron Range National Park.

*AUDIO ON* This footage of these rare parrots was captured over 2 sessions at the site. Although there was not much action, it was magical to hear the beautiful calls of these birds in the wild. Their distinctive high pitched, electric-like whistle dominates the rainforest and still puts a grin on my face when listening to the audio recordings.

These beautiful birds are listed as vulnerable in Australia, with the population decreasing over its range. This subspecies can only be found in the Iron and Mcllwraith Ranges of eastern Cape York in Far North Queensland. Subspecies also occur in Indonesia, New Guinea and several Pacific islands.
