This was my first flight in over a year as a result of the pandemic but having kept a close eye on rules and regulation I had a fairly clear idea of what to expect. I arrived at Edinburgh airport around 11:20 despite my flight leaving at 15:35 - this was solely to squeeze in some extra plane spotting. Having no bags to drop and checked in online, I proceeded straight to security and was through in under 2 minutes. As a requirement, face coverings are mandatory and there was plenty of sanitiser stations dotted around the terminal for use which was good to see. After buying some food and water from WHSmith I proceeded to spend the next few hours plane spotting before eventually heading to Gate 25.

Boarding was the usual EasyJet process, stating with speedy boarding passengers and EasyJet plus customers. It was quite crowded around the gate area as there were 3 EasyJet flights departing at the same area, the other two to LTN and BRS. We boarded around 15:10 and were required to scan our own boarding passes.

Once onboard I took my seat in 07A and we departed on time, taking off at 15:40 from Runway 24. Heading west and turning south down over Dumfries and Galloway. There was no inflight magazine or bistro menu as expected, only a safety card in the seat pocket. The crew came round with the onboard service but I didn’t get anything as I wasn’t hungry and had water with me already. We commenced cruising over Loweswater, Cumbria at 33,000ft and begun our decent SW of Whitchurch, Shropshire. We headed south of Gatwick and looped back round towards Runway 26L, landing at 16:49.

Once disembarked, I headed to arrivals which was quite a long walk, but that’s to be expected at a big airport like LGW.

The crew were friendly and professional which is always good to see, especially when there is a pandemic.

I ave always had a good experience with EasyJet and would recommend flying them. They handled the safety of passengers during these times very well on this flight and I felt very safe onboard.
