After seeing Manchester City beat Everton at Goodison Park, it was down to Arsenal to maintain the pressure on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Arsenal came up against a fierce and strong Brighton side who were certainly up for the challenge.

Arsenal’s display against Brighton was the total opposite of what we have to come to expect when they are playing at the Emirates, but vs Brighton they were flat and looked defeated.

The Gunners have surpassed even the wildest dreams of fans back in August, but the reality is their performance in the first half of the season set a new standard and raised expectations. A few injuries and tired legs have meant those standards slipped, but Arteta will be desperate to build again and come back better in 2023-24.

You can see why Arsenal were so desperate to sign Moises Caicedo in January. Despite starting as a right-back on Sunday, he was brilliant in the duels against the Gunners, winning more than Jorginho, Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard put together.

We spoke to Lee Judges from AFTV, Joel Beya from FIVE and many Arsenal fans who were not pleased with the outcome, after having a blistering start to the season the Arsenal title charge has fizzled out in recent weeks. Giving Manchester City the ascendency in the hunt for the premier league title.

Roberto De Zerbi had his men ready after the defeat to Everton last time out they weren’t going to lose again. They started on the front foot, pressing and really imposing themselves on Arsenal.

The second half they increased the intensity and pushed for the opening goal with Mitoma had Ben White falling over like he was dancing on ice.

All in all Brighton were by far the better team, it is fair to say Roberto De Zerbi is going to be pushing Brighton to reach that next level of teams in the Premier League if they can keep a hold of their top players this summer
